About Econsortium	English (USA)
The UGC-Infonet Digital Library Consortium was formally launched in December, 2003 by Honourable Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam, the then President of India soon after providing the Internet connectivity to the universities in the year 2003 under the UGC-Infonet programme. The Consortium proved to be a recipe to university libraries which have been discontinuing subscription of scholarly journals because of "Serials Crisis". The term "serials crisis" refers to exponential and continuing increase in subscription cost of scholarly journals. The crisis is a result of rise in cost of journals much faster than the rate of inflation, increase in number of journals and the paucity of funds available to the libraries. Using Econsortium
To post a message to all the list members, send email to econsortium@lin.inflibnet.ac.in. You can subscribe to the list, or change your existing subscription, in the sections below.
Subscribing to Econsortium
Subscribe to INFLIBNET Econsortium by filling out the following form. You will be sent email requesting confirmation, to prevent others from gratuitously subscribing you. This is a private list, which means that the list of members is not available to non-members. (Note that this is an umbrella list, intended to have only other mailing lists as members. Among other things, this means that your confirmation request will be sent to the `-owner' account for your address.) Do not use a valuable password as it will occasionally be emailed back to you in cleartext.
